Level 1 charging is slow
So, remember that story going around with someone's Kia or Hyundai needing over forty hours to charge? I thought that was weird, but admittedly I haven't kept up with how long it takes to charge a modern EV. When we had the Leaf, it was around 20 hours on level 1 which didn't matter as we always used level 2, which was 8 to 12 hours.
So, just got done putting in a proper charger rather than using the portable, since the Chevy portable kinda sucks, so we now have a level 2 Emporia charger. When I set up the app, I set it to 40Amp breaker even though it's on a 50 Amp as I'm a little paranoid. This does mean it will be slower than the max, but looking at EvoCharge's website, I think it'll work just fine, 8 hours. And if'n we used level one, 46 hours. Wow, it takes a long time now at level 1, I guess the batteries are just that big now.

Put my money where my mouth is and bought a union-made electric car. Got the Bolt EUV yesterday and I'm looking forward to finding all the best places to top off when I'm out and about. Home charger should be installed in a week or two. Let me know if you have any tips or questions as I'm switching over.

Weird. I had to disconnect the negative terminal on my 12V car battery in my #BoltEUV to get it to stay connected to the DC Fast Charger at an #EVGo charging station. This is the second location I've driven to this morning. Good thing I don't have anywhere to be.
According to the forum I found the tip on it resets something in the charge system. I don't understand it, but I'm grateful that it's charging. I have somewhere to be early tomorrow morning.
*Sigh*
GM/Chevy is replacing the #BoltEV and #BoltEUV with the Blazer EV and Equinox EV, which are on the new ultium platform and not the BEV2 platform which was VERY long in the tooth. This is what they said they would do.
They will be bigger and more normal-looking which is pretty much what everyone surveyed has said they needed if they were gonna be convinced to seriously consider an EV as their next vehicle.
I am getting so tired of weird pearl clutching articles trying to get in on that "GM is killing the electric car!" hype from the 90s. The entire thing GM was trying to do is make a boring, small, cheap car that happened to be electric the next version will be better than that and the Buick Electra and Cadillac Lyriq are gonna Right There if someone wants to show off, just like the ELR was when the Volt came out.
Well #GM officially lost me. Was looking at the #bolt and #bolteuv for commuting and was equally curious about the equinox ev, but #hyundai came through with a great deal on an #ioniq5 last week and my wife remains happy that she can still use car play. Good luck, gm, there are plenty of really good EVs coming, all with car play/android auto. Hope your faith in your infotainment team isnโt misplaced (narrator: โit isโ)
