Sharpes Pottery Museum, #Swadlincote, #Derbyshire

In the late 1800's, this corner of Derbyshire rivalled Stoke on Trent as a centre of the #pottery industry, but focussed mainly on a different product - #sanitaryware, producing #earthenware water closets and #pipework exported around the world.

Few kilns remain of the hundreds that worked in the area up to the 1950's, the museum's #kiln being a rare example.
