Did you know our artistic director and founder has been a huge train fan all his life? (His actual first words ever were "choo-choo"!)

Yesterday, he caught the historic Big Boy No. 4014, the world's largest operating steam locomotive, as it passed through the campus of our troupe's alma mater, Case Western Reserve University, on its journey to the East Coast as part of the United States 250th birthday. The return trip brings it back through Ohio next month, passing through Cleveland again on Monday, July 13 with a bigger event in Fostoria, OH the next day.

But we're hoping to catch Big Boy's stop in Struthers, OH on July 12 on the way to a storage locker run to prep for our upcoming shows at Pennsic later that month!

Steamtown's own "Big Boy" No. 4012, getting ready for Union Pacific "Big Boy" No. 4014's visit in May. I believe this was just a cosmetic restoration, not put back into service. But it's still a very nice job! This languished for years at Steamtown, and I honestly thought it would just rot/rust away (it looked awful). Kudos to the volunteers for bringing No. 4012 this far back! 😀
