"No UK prime minister has served a full term since David Cameron", writes #BenQuinn in #TheGuardian https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2026/jun/22/keir-starmer-quits-prime-minister-what-will-happen-next-uk-politics-explained

Quinn's article is not analysis, but it's a valuable survey.

My takeaway is how the case for #FPTP voting has collapsed. It used to be a stabiliser: heavily-rewarded winners got a safe majority to govern.

But that no longer works. Big majority govts now implode rapidly and spectacularly.

Time for #STV, to create a representative parliament.

I also told #Guardian's journalist, #BenQuinn:

"There are some extreme people who want martyrs but you have to remember he is a human being. He has given enough of his life, his body, even, for the cause of press freedom and he has a family who want to see him again"

I love this piece by #TheGuardian's journalist, #BenQuinn about #EmmyButlin, #ClaraCampostoe and the unsung heroes: #activists.

I told #BenQuinn:

“They are the winter soldiers who have always been there, without recognition.”
