The wealthiest 1% are still deeply vested in fossil fuels, which is still solidly entrenched in multiple layers of Capitalism, while branching out into Crypto and corollary AI data center infrastructure. The US admin's current offer to oil companies is to finance their ventures into The Global South, to countermeasure BRICS and The Belt and Road Initiative.

During increasingly destabilizing, overlapping value spaces, controlling as much root infrastructure offers the opportunity to hide more Capitalism profits, couched into the guise of providing the democratic masses with affordable stability.

It's quite the con.

@Snoro Too many modern industrialized nations are invested in fossil fuels, at a myriad of levels, to make such drastic changes in the face of increasing climate crises. Conversely; nations without the basic infrastructure for #sustainability are also out of range.

But developing countries with malleable grids, equitable infrastructure, etc., are exactly the target for projects like China's Belt and Road Initiative.
