Congrats to former student Branick Weix whose business Aryeo has been acquired by Zillow. Branick reached out to me before starting Boston College as a freshman & it was clear he was a star. Branick took 3 of my classes & was one of the first TAs for #BCSwift our #Swift course. Extra bonus, one of his first investors was also one of my former students. Today was SUCH FUN celebrating #BCSwift & #BCPhysComp. A recap video will be prepped and posted but need to prioritize finals, first. Students were fantastic! Such great groups!
Professor challenges students that the final exam will be cancelled if they create a viral TikTok that garners 1 million views. It took one student just 24 hrs. Oh! Just got an email from someone at Apple congratulating me on being named an Apple Distinguished Educator. First I’d heard, but this is great news! Looking forward to sharing more of the Semester of @SwiftUI with other educators in the program. Thanks to all who have helped & encouraged me & my #BCSwift students. I’ve learned so much from our online community and owe all a big and continued thank you!
The @SwiftUI hackers with mid-term #2 underway. They are building the Star Wars Species app. API call, JSON parsing, paged JSON while scrolling, load all pages with recursive load call, AsyncImage with placeholder, ProgressView, and a “Surprise and Delight” talking magic-8-ball-style Yoda when you click Grogu. Employers looking for Jr Devs - here’s a room with 50 smarties. I’ll post a solution video tomorrow for anyone playing along with the home game #BuiltWithProfG. #BCSwift. Keep hacking!
