For anyone with solar and net metering in British Columbia, BC Hydro is changing the terms.
We will no longer get 1 for 1 kwh credits. Energy pushed back into the the grid will be at a fixed rate of 10 cents/kwh and will be calculated on a to billing cycle. You will then need to buy that back at whatever rate tier you are on when the sun goes down.
This is bad news for residential solar and it reduces the savings and increases the payback period.
I think they are trying to get us to buy home batteries which there is actually a $5000 rebate for, but it is still a big investment.
What I hate most is that this just complicates things.
