This was a cold, rainy ferry ride. Because I get motion sick, I spent most of my time on deck anyway, going inside for short periods to warm up. This is heading from Vancouver Island towards the mainland. Out of the grey, this magical pink appeared. :)

It's been a while... I took a two week vacation from painting (U.S. thanksgiving plus husband taking time off from work).

I have many more layers of colour to add to the rooster photographer but I like what I accomplished in session 9. I'm about 11 hours into this piece.

I usually take weekends off from my big paintings but I wanted to get more layers down. It looks better now that it's nearly dry. I'll post an updated photo. This one is from right after I took a break.

White paint found and jars for mixing colours found. So I've applied the second coat to the fog colour. I've laid down the first layers of the fog covered trees and what will be the non-foggy trees. The final trees (the warm area) will be much bluer on the next layer.

After a second coat of green and letting it sit to thoroughly dry, I started on the background. It's a foggy but bright day and I'm going to need a lot of Titanium white. I used the last of my white to mix the lightest colour of the fog. That layer will need to dry then I'll add a second before moving on to the most distant line of trees.

I have also ordered more Titanium white.

Maybe I am just out of the #BCFerry loop and they've been doing this for awhile but I don't remember seeing the Queen of Alberni on the Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay route this year.

I haven't taken it on that run probably since before Duke Point terminal was built in the 90s! The DP run has always been Alberni’s main haunt.

Filling in for another vessel during the summer months maybe? while the two larger Coastal vessels do the DP route.

Anyway... I am sure I'm the only one who cares. lol.

Wonder if they'll let us off the #bcferry tonight, or will we be absorbed into the structure of it and be doomed to an eternity of crossing the Salish Sea

A statement from the federal #CrownCorporation says it has closed a deal with #BCFerry Services as the company expands the #electrification of its fleet.

It says terminal upgrades are to be completed by 2027 and the battery electric ferries will be used on small-volume & shorter routes.
