Self-described as the Gaysian empress of Sydney, Dyan Tai (he/they) makes electronic hyperpop music fused with Beijing opera sounds and traditional Southeast Asian soundscapes.

From humble beginnings in Malaysia to carving a niche on the Sydney cabaret stages and now evolving into an electronic artist, the trilingual, Chinese-Australian artist is known for their captivating live shows that include powerful visuals, Chinese operatic makeup and their iconic mirror-coated keytar.

The film documents the life of Syrian director and journalist Waad al-Kateab during the civil war in Aleppo.

Over a period of five years, she captures everyday life under siege, between medical care, civil resistance and family survival.

The political and social upheaval of 1989/90 was a milestone for today's Antifa movement.

Based on the assumption of a shared history of resistance among East and West German anti-fascists, the independent movement that emerged in East Germany has often been given too little attention in many retrospectives.

One of the main triggers for organising was the numerous Nazi attacks on punk concerts in the late 1980s, such as the attack on the Element of Crime concert in the Zion Church in October 1987.

Shortly afterwards, the first autonomous Antifa group in the GDR was founded in Potsdam.

From the summer of 1990 onwards, left-wing youths met in the Kirche von Unten (K.v.U.) to organise the founding of Autonome Antifa Ostberlin.

Der staatliche und gesellschaftliche Umbruch 1989/90 war ein Markstein für die heutige Antifa-Bewegung.

Unter der Annahme einer gemeinsamen widerständigen Geschichte ost- und westdeutscher Antifaschist*innen erhielt die in Ostdeutschland entstandene eigenständige Bewegung in vielen Rückschauen oft zu wenig Raum.

Einer der Hauptauslöser sich zu organisieren waren die zahlreichen Naziübergriffe auf Punkkonzerte in den späten 80er Jahren, so zum Beispiel der Angriff auf das »Element of Crime«-Konzert in der Zionskirche im Oktober 1987.

Kurz danach gründete sich in Potsdam die erste autonome Antifa-Gruppe in der DDR.

Ab Sommer 1990 trafen sich linke Jugendliche in der Kirche von Unten (K.v.U.) um die Gründung der Autonome Antifa Ostberlin zu organisieren.

Hagar Shezaf, who worked as Haaretz West Bank correspondent between 2019 - 2025, will discuss the situation in the occupied territories during the two years of the genocide in Gaza and the deepening processes of ethnic cleansing targeting Palestinian communities.

Throughout her reporting, Shezaf has revealed the close coordination between settler militias, responsible for daily attacks on Palestinians and peace activists, and the Israeli army.

She followed the aggressive measures of de facto annexation promoted by Minister Smotrich and the growing influence of settler ideologues in managing the occupation.

Shezaf has an in-depth knowledge of both the Palestinian communities fighting against their dispossession and the settler groups aggressively pushing for the vision of greater Israel.

Hagar Shezaf, die von 2019 bis 2025 als Korrespondentin für Haaretz im Westjordanland tätig war, wird über die Lage in den besetzten Gebieten während der zwei Jahre des Völkermords in Gaza und die sich verschärfenden Prozesse der ethnischen Säuberung gegen palästinensische Gemeinschaften sprechen.

In ihren Berichten hat Shezaf die enge Zusammenarbeit zwischen den Siedlermilizen, die für die täglichen Angriffe auf Palästinenser und Friedensaktivisten verantwortlich sind, und der israelischen Armee aufgedeckt.

Sie verfolgte die aggressiven Maßnahmen der De-facto-Annexion, die von Minister Smotrich vorangetrieben wurden, sowie den wachsenden Einfluss der Siedlerideologen auf die Verwaltung der Besatzung.

Shezaf verfügt über fundierte Kenntnisse sowohl über die palästinensischen Gemeinden, die gegen ihre Enteignung kämpfen, als auch über die Siedlergruppen, die aggressiv für die Vision eines Großisraels eintreten.

🌹Reading and discussion: The Optimists. An evening about our struggling mothers.🌹

📖 In the novel ‘Die Optimistinnen’ (The Optimists, 2022), Gün Tank tells the story of striking migrant workers in Germany.

✊ In 1973, Irina Vavitsa took part in the ‘wildcat’ strikes at Hella. Almost fifty years later, Agnieszka Jastrzebska (patient care) and Şükran Türgüt Özkan (ward cleaning) went on strike with their colleagues at Charité subsidiary CFM for 48 days – and fought for full TVöD wages until 2030.

Colleagues at Vivantes subsidiaries are currently preparing for their fight for equal pay for equal work.

💬 The discussion and reading will focus on how colleagues experience these struggles.

🎶 Musical accompaniment by composer and multi-instrumentalist Eren Akşahin. İdil Baydar as Jilet Ayşe will be striking on site.

🌹We celebrate all these strong women – and ourselves, yesterday and today.
