AOI (Modern Japanese. Wynyard Quarter).
Agedashi tofu: tofu, bonito flakes, spring onion, nori, chilli
Beef tataki: beef, ponzu, garlic, onion, spring onion, sesame oil, microgreen
Karaage chicken: chicken, lemon, white radish, mayonnaise

The Agedashi tofu & Beef tataki were superb. The chicken was crispy & tender but I thought it needed more seasoning. Service was friendly but not terribly polished. I'd happily eat the tofu & beef again.

Dinner at Origine Bistro (Commercial Bay).
Lamb & Cheese Pie: Puff pastry, Mahoe farm mature gouda, truffle oil ($12)
French onion soup: Origine’s favourite with slow-cooked oxtail toastie, gratinated Comté ($28)
Beef Bourguignon: Slow-cooked Greenstone Creek beef cheek,
potato purée, homemade mustard, red wine jus, buttered leeks($39)
Grilled Greens: Wood-fired Ahi green vegetables with
smoked yoghurt & gingerbread crumb ($10) #AucklandEats #kai #food 🍜🍽️
Tried the Chicken Rice Bowl with salted egg yolk sauce ($18.90) from Ho Ciak (Albert St., CBD) & got for takeaways the Fried Noodles (Mee Goreng) with chicken ($19.90) & the side of eggplant sambal ($12). It's all delicious but the eggplant was the clear winner for me. #AucklandEats #kai #food 🍜🍽️
Seafood Paradise 2020 (yumcha at Wynyard Quarter). Wonton (prawn) soup 8 pcs ($17), Pork ribs ($10.90), Prawn Steam rice roll with shrimp ($11), Green tea pancakes ($9.90). Food is made to order so slower compared to trolley service, but it's my new favourite yumcha spot. My favourite were the greentea pancakes which were filled with a mix of sesame seed, crushed peanut & sugar. #AucklandEats #kai #food 🍜🍽️
Dynasty BBQ Noodle House (New Lynn). Tried the Peking Half-Duck 1 course ($38). Crispy Fried Pork Intestine ($28), Seasonal greens in Vegetarian Oyster Sauce ($16). The duck was decent but not Peking duck which should have crispy skin, this was Cantonese roast duck. The pork intestine was excellent, the greens were a touch salty (would have been fine if had with rice). It's good enough that I'd go back. #AucklandEats #kai #food 🍜🍽️
Bravo at Cracker Bay (yes really). The menu makes me think of a gastro pub. I had a couple of small plates, the prawn cocktail & the fried chicken. The food was good (not spectacular) but it was the location & service that made the experience even more enjoyable. Would return. #AucklandEats #kai #food 🍜🍽️
Plasma donation & lunch.
Did my bit by donating plasma yesterday. After that I rewarded myself with a delicious lunch at Jinweide (Lincoln Road) with their Braised beef noodle with soup ($17.99) & Spicy tripe ($9.99)

My only quibble: the claypot beef was delicious but the rice was greasier than I like. If you like marrow, definitely order it: it was terrific!

Went to Rothko for lunch at the weekend. It's excellent.
House bread with misozuke butter
Duck liver donut with fermented cherry
Grilled pork belly, raw fish, coconut
Lamb ribs, jang glaze, tamarillo, soy mayo
Claypot beef: steak, saffron rice, bone marrow

My only quibble: the claypot beef was delicious but the rice was greasier than I like. If you like marrow, definitely order it: it was terrific! 1/2

The wines were both delicious & good with the food.
Tettonica Pét-Nat (Pinot noir, Syrah, Chardonnay) (They'd run out of the Elephant Hill but this was a good replacement from a winery new to me)
Albert Bichot ''Mr No Sulfite'' Beaujolais Villages

Overall, fits well with the Commercial Bay vibe, this being a modern take on Korean flavours. Don't come here if you want traditional Korean food, but I really enjoyed the variety of flavours. #AucklandEats #kai #food #wine 🍜🍽️ 3/3
