As training and education commenced within the metaverse, and the use of artificial intelligence has spread in digital education. Despite the potential opportunities and benefits, concerns have arisen regarding the risks and threats associated with these technologies, prompting research into their impact on the safety and quality of educational systems in the Arab region. This study employs a descriptive approach to examine the risks and benefits of the metaverse and artificial intelligence technologies in education, aiming to derive logical and realistic conclusions and propose useful recommendations and applicable solutions.

📣 New additions to the Academic Network for #DevelopmentDialogue (ANDD) Paper Series from Qatar University Press on #ScienceOpen!
A platform for dialogue and knowledge sharing to address structural challenges and opportunities in the #ArabRegion beyond conventional development paradigms.

The Academic Network for Development Dialogue (ANDD) is a fundamental step in creating synergy and strengthening the cooperation and dialogue between the United Nations (UN) and Academia. It acts as a think tank in the region to influence the UN's work and the global dialogue on policy options to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The ANDD was established as a partnership between universities and educational institutions regionally and worldwide with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) supported by the Academic Council on the United Nations System (ACUNS) and Qatar University (QU).

The ANDD Paper Series is one of the initiatives of the ANDD; it aims to encourage structured dialogue over structural challenges and opportunities that the Arab region is encountered with, beyond those identifiable through sectoral and technical aspects. The ANDD Paper Series seeks to foster discussions on essential issues seldom tackled in the development conversations at the regional, national, and local levels. Addressing young Arab scholars and early-career UN staff working on development issues in the region, it provides a forum for the young generation to discuss critical ideas and innovative proposals for regional problems.

An interview with Khaldon Khashman (Secretary General of Arab Countries Water Utilities Association, ACWUA). Most people don’t realize that the Arab region relies on about 70 percent of its water from outside the Arab world. Think, for instance, of countries like Syria and Iraq that share water with upstream countries like Turkey. This situation is comparable to Egypt, which relies heavily on water from several countries like Ethiopia, Sudan, and Uganda. This adds a political-security component to the water challenges of the Arab region. But, staying with the political and security situation, there are countries with internal problems and transboundary conflicts, leading to internally displaced people and refugees. Take, for instance, the millions of Syrian refugees in countries like Jordan, Lebanon, or Turkey.
