I honestly think the biggest issue with being #antiaiart is that the companies providing these pre-trained models have intentionally been *both* rebranding "machine learning" as "AI" *and* branding their specific tools as "AI". When someone says "I hate AI" or "I use AI in creating my art," you actually can't tell if they're referring to "machine learning" *or* if they're referring to a specific set of tools.

I think because of this, the most important thing for #createdontscrape activists to do is to unify behind a memorable and repeatable phrase, word, or acronym which describes "generative machine learning models which have been trained on media without the consent of the copyright holders of that media."

The problem with just saying "AI art is bad" is that "AI is just math, man!" and there are plenty of totally reasonable ways to use neural networks in art.

These companies know this and have intentionally created confusion to prevent proper discussion around their regulation.
