For the cat, instead, some extra precautions are needed: due to evolutionary reasons, domestic felines tend to drink little and may not on their own take the necessary amount of water. Wet food therefore represents an important support, as do some simple but always effective strategies: by providing multiple water points in the house, by using wide and shallow bowls, up to arriving at fountains. All this can favor a more regular water intake, concretely supporting the cat at home. Also for cats, the use of cooling mats and the creation of cool areas in the house contribute to better thermal comfort, especially when temperatures rise.
It is also important to remember that pets should never be taken out during the hottest hours of the day, when the asphalt and temperatures can become dangerous. Even with short outings, the dog’s skin should always be protected with specific products, such as hand creams and sunscreens specially formulated for pets, which help to prevent irritation and sunburns.
