I had this #magnetic #tape #reel still shrinkwrapped. Imagine that, a tape from 1964 still unplayed like new. Finally opened it. Not sure how long I've owned it. Playing it back on the Akai GX280DSS (a 2 channel / 4 channel surround reel to reel unit from the 1970s). Sounds very nice. No loss, damage or stretching. No sticking either. #Bach played by a #French #jazz band. A 62 year old tape on a 50 year old tape recorder, both looking and sounding like new. #music #akai #ampex

@stebbs it is generally accepted that the first #videotape was made by #ampex Although 3M certainly had a hand in the development of the technology. Scotch brand tapes were very good and I did a huge number of 8mm film to video transfers on them
