In the last two days, I've sent out two pitches for stories I very much want to write. One is a history story that plays nicely into a book proposal I'm slowly working on, and the other is a more timely climate wildlife piece for a market where I've always wanted to work.
They're out of my hands now. Time for a meeting, some dinner, and last week's Burrow's End to distract me.
Unsurprisingly, the "Raster Everything" option really increases the export time on this large and image-heavy document.
Killing time, so thinking about weird coincidences:
My grandmother's birthday was 31 May, Republic Day, commemorating 31 May 1961, when South Africa became independent from Britain.
Her daughter, my mother's birthday was the 27th of April, Freedom day in South Africa, commemoration of 27 April 1994, the first free elections after apartheid.
And just to illustrate how random these things are, the date my mother died on is the 5th of November, Guy Fawkes day, that commemorates a failed attempt to overthrow King James and his parliament.
