#DigiKam's face matching quality AND drops terribly as the photos collection grows. With decades of photos of a single family, faces match almost randomly, and confirming a face takes 15s on a high-end machine.
This is due to the KD-tree used for the index and lack of using the modern vector features of MariaDB / SQLite.
Hopefully, some near version will switch to multi-cluster centroid-based matching, speeding things up by orders of magnitude.
📷 🖼️ #DigiKam 9.0 works with #MariaDB 12.3. ✅
Upgrading from 11.8 will take a while, so you need to let MariaDB server run for up to few minutes while it reformats the binlog et al., so DigiKam will possibly complain "Can't connect within 60 seconds." But on the 2nd run it will be okay.

“The criticism of Heaven & Earth was that there weren’t any big epics. We had a couple of longer tracks on The Quest. With this one we’ve gone overboard!” The story of Yes’ 23rd album Mirror To The Sky

Cosa succederebbe se per ascoltare musica dovremmo tornare ad ascoltare interi album? Chissà se la gente ha ancora la pazienza di ascoltare 7 minuti di brano ed emozionarsi

Maybe you've seen Masonna on stage and have thought, this guy is just a shitheel attention-seeker. But this album, though of course stupidly outlandish if you've never heard any so-called harsh noise, is actually quite well organized — organized into many short segments that introduce enough variation and change to keep it interesting, much more so than many other noise albums. Even within its limited sonic palette (and means), it's surprising how "structured" it is.
