An #SBB🇨🇭Stadler Class 523 “Flirt” unit seen at #Dornach_Arlesheim on the #Basel S-Bahn earlier today. Right-hand running, unusual in #Switzerland, is due to a line closure because of track works a few kilometres further south, at #Aesch, where the train will reverse. Passengers will continue by bus.

A picture taken earlier this afternoon at #Aesch BL🇨🇭station: an #SBB class #RABe523 #Stadler #Flirt unit is seen here on its way on the #Laufental #S3 S-Bahn, heading to #Basel and #Olten. This is the Swiss #Jurabahn. The line opened around 1875, almost 150 years ago.

#Aesch🇨🇭station on the Swiss #Jurabahn is at the southern end of the double tracked section of the line from Basel and therefore a place where the #Laufental S-Bahn (Basel area S3) trains and #SBB line 51 #InterCity services to/from Biel/Bienne can meet.
