I wrote a one-shot!

Well… it’s a first draft. It’s a mess. It’s all over the place. It contradicts itself. It’s honestly pretty awful.

Anybody want to take a look and give some constructive (and ideally instructive) feedback?

DM me your email and I’ll send you a PDF.

Thanks!

Edit: It's a side-quest, the story of a town who can suddenly hear a narrator telling their stories. Starts off light and funny, quirky, but turns a little darker as the story progresses.

The Gypsy Life of Robert Louis Stevenson | The Hudson Review

Monday I'm going to run Troika for a couple of friends and got down to write my own adventure.
What started as kind of a rip-off of Gardens of Ynn has turned into its own thing, which I hope won't suck half as bad as I'm afraid it will.
Basically the PCs have to find someone that's gone missing into one of the city's magical gardens and deliver an item. One of the problems is that this particular Garden is where people go to forget themselves and change identity.

It's not possible to accurately portray good and evil without politics.

The definition of good and evil is inherently political.

I am an absolute sucker for placing quest goals inside an ooze, and I make no apologies for this obsession.

Full overview of the 13th Age adventure I'm writing is done. I call it an overview but it's kind of like a first basic draft with no mechanics and light on details like GM instructions or descriptions. It's about 3700 words, so not like a couple of paragraphs.

Now I can start breaking it down into scenes, name characters, and get to writing it properly. A much longer task, but one made easier by the depths that the overview goes into. #rpgwriting #adventurewriting #13thage

Off today as work is closed for the July holiday, so I'm doing some prep for pt 2 of the playtest this weekend. Pt 1 was rocky and I definitely need to iron out some of the problems but think there is some promise there.
Also, a few things that came up might make an interesting newsletter for when I start that up again. You can sign up at the link below to hear more about my process, and get a sneak peek at maps and art on all my TTRPG projects.
