Finally a decent article about the #LostCanadian new option for people with Canadian ancestors.

There was someone approved recently 9 generations out from the #Acadian displacement. It's real. If you can prove your Canadian ancestors, you can claim citizenship. It's not naturalization.

"The French-speaking settlers who left the Acadian region of Canada for southwest Louisiana in 1764 became known as Cajuns. They brought their traditional ballads and fiddle tunes with them. Music was an essential part of social life among Cajuns at house parties, gatherings, and by the 1920s, at dancehalls. Over time, French-speaking African American Creoles also shared these music traditions. In the days before amplification or microphones, singers had to project their voices high and loud in order to be heard. Even after amplified sound was introduced in the mid-1930s, this characteristic singing style remained the standard among most traditional Cajun vocalists. Lyrics are still sung in French today. Une chanson, mille souvenirs : Les Acadiens a 40 ans - Mes Plaisirs Magazine

"Les Acadiens", ce n'est pas simplement une chanson. C'est un témoignage musical, un mémorial chanté, un cri du cœur devenu hymne. En 1975, Michel Fugain, porté par l'énergie créative de son groupe Big Bazar, décide de raconter l'indicible : la déportation des Acadiens. Un sujet peu traité en chanson jusqu'alors, encore moins en France. Et

Pete De Soeur (Nuns Farts) Recipe - Food.com

The name of this recipe doesn't sound appealing but trust me it is. It's been a family French recipe for years and I would love to share it with you.

For #TuneTuesday this week, we're sharing #MyFavMusic2024.

P'tit Belliveau, a one-of-a-kind musician from Nova Scotia who sings in Acadian French and English, put out an excellent country/synth-pop/hip-hop/metal album in March. I haven't stopped listening to it all year. This is definitely one of its quieter and prettier tunes.
