I have a new article out together with @rwg : "What is 'alternative' about 'alternative social media'?"

It is published in Résaux, in their special issue on Alternative Internets edited by Stéphane Couture and @guillaume https://shs.cairn.info/journal-reseaux-2025-6?lang=en

The article is available in French (translated by Pauline Côté and edited by @guillaume) and English: https://shs.cairn.info/journal-reseaux-2025-6-page-183?lang=en

I have an idea for academic publishers: why not do the "10 Euro each book campaign" that Palgrave did once? Your book prices are ridiculously absurd. #academicchatter

For one paper I should have submitted my review a bit earlier. I should have been reviewer 2 on this one.

I hate reading papers that are obviously written with AI. The use of overly strong, unscientific qualifiers; the amount of unnecessary text that could be shortened significantly; and the constant repetitions without any new information are really annoying.

I wish conferences and convergences would stop scheduling people with similar shticks within the same time slots.

I'm sure I'm not alone in the sentiment that it would be nice to learn about the current research or organising efforts of comrades and colleagues with common interests.

Last year, I went to a mixed academic and community organising convergence in Ireland and all the people with Lived or Living Experience were scheduled at the same time, so no one could go to each others talks...it was kind of a disappointment.

Prevented from reading (for fun) by having to read (for work) 😔 #academicChatter
