There is still time to voice #opposition to the roundup of the #LittleBookCliffs wild horses. Please join us in speaking out against the #BLM 's proposed plan by signing onto our #public comments calling on the #agency to reconsider its plans to round up the #herd and instead focus on expanding the humane fertility control program that has already been successful!

The Draft EIS fails to integrate wild horse use with other public land activities, contradicting the agency's mandate. We urge the BLM to address these concerns and protect Wyoming's iconic wild herds in line with the wishes of the vast majority of Americans.

the BLM used a separate land use process to approve a plan to โ€œzero outโ€ (eliminate all wild horses from) the Salt Wells Creek and Divide Basin HMAs and slash the size and #population number in the Adobe Town HMA. #AWHC and our partners are currently in litigation fighting that devastating plan.

Although the current RMP revision leaves out analysis of wild horses, it remains the appropriate vehicle

Furthermore, the extreme winter conditions last year resulted in the deaths of 11 of these beautiful animals, and we know it will take more this year.

The nation's leading equine geneticist, Gus Cothran, has clearly stated that wild horse populations should not fall below 150 animals in order to maintain genetic #diversity. This removal could ultimately lead to the destruction of this small #herd.

where every single wild horse was forcibly taken from the lands they have called home for centuries.

We couldn't let this removal happen in vain โ€“ the team at #AWHC took my reports and photographs and disseminated them to the #media. The results have been impactful โ€“ the #SteamboatPilot featured roundup coverage on its front page while other regional outlets including the #ColoradoSun, the #DurangoHerald, #ColoradoPublicRadio, #Westword, and #CBS used our imagery,

- Over a dozen known groups of related individuals have adopted multiple wild horses and burros to the same address, then flipped all the animals to kill pens as a group after receiving the full #IncentivePayments.

DEADLY CONSEQUENCES OF ADOPTION INCENTIVE PROGRAM

Last year, the American Wild Horse Campaign (#AWHC) released an explosive investigative #report that detailed the devastating and deadly consequences of the Bureau of Land Management's ( #BLM ) cash incentive-based adoption program, known as the Adoption Incentive Program ( #AIP ). The AIP pays individuals $1,000 per #animal to #adopt up to four wild, unhandled BLM #mustangs and #burros a year.

Last week, #AWHC on-the-ground observers captured photos and video of a beautiful #palomino stallion who suffered a painful broken leg while trying to escape the trap site. The valiant stallion managed to garner all his strength to run off on three legs, but was eventually pushed by a #helicopter toward wranglers, roped, and euthanized 35 minutes after sustaining the horrific injury.
