#Artem spent most of his life in #Crimea under #Russian occupation.
When he received a draft notice to the #Russian Armed Forces, #Artem decided to risk everything. He traveled more than 3,000 kilometers - five days on the road, crossing several borders, constantly fearing detention.
Volunteers met him immediately after he crossed into #Ukraine, helping him with housing, documents, and the first steps toward a new life.
#Artem had an amputation at the knee joint level and defects of bones and soft tissues.
The team of surgeons and rehabilitation specialists at #Okhmatdyt saved both brothers. The boys face a long road of prosthetics and recovery.
