A great collection of short stories about humans becoming digital facsimiles in different and interesting fashions.

Made me feel like a kid again reading about weird ideas. Hints of the horrible, allusory world-building. Great stuff.

Written by @nichorra Elysian is a novel that I find hard to describe. It's a romance, of sorts, between two straight men and I say that rather than friendship because the obsession with identity and the yearning for the other is one of the themes that runs through the book like the river runs through Cork, where it is set; another important character in the book. The symbolism of the Elysian tower and the wax and wane of fortune is paralleled by

I thought the premise sounded intriguing but the multiple story lines weave together into an interconnected Web of short stories.

How to know the unknowable without knowing how. An accurate summary that makes it sound like the book is disappearing up its own tailpipe, a soft bodied squid hiding in the ink of mysticism.

Hench by Natalie Zina Walschots is about a temp who works for supervillains until an encounter with a hero changes her life forever.

- Despite the fantasy it's grounded in modern (American) life and the precariat hard scrabble for health care and basic respect from employers.

- bi woman protagonist

If you liked Drew Hayes "Forging Hephaestus" or Austin Grossman's "Soon I will be invincible" then you will probably like this!

You should read "The Golem and the Djinni" by Helen Wecker.

You should read it because:

- it's very charming in its depiction of 18th Century New York

- It mixes golems and djinn as concepts into a unified whole with thought and sensitivity being all sorts of lovely to semitic peoples

- the themes of being an outsider and finding community are touching.

You will like it if you read Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell.
