AGI - "In questo caso, quello che mi tormenta è che nessuno di loro sia uscito dalla grotta per dare l'allarme. Parlando teoricamente, ci si può perdere nella grotta, si va nel panico, si inizia a pinneggiare, si alza la fanghiglia, non si trova più la strada d'uscita": lo spiega in un'intervista a La Stampa, l'apneista Umberto Pelizzari, commentando la morte dei cinque sub italiani alle Maldive.

In quel caso, ipotizza, "le torce servono a poco. Entri nella prima sala, poi nella seconda, in una terza. Ti giri, c'è l'acqua torbida, ti sembra di essere passato da quella direzione, ma ti sbagli. Vai fuori controllo. E sei a 50-60 metri, dove ci sono regole d'immersione, tempi da rispettare. La grotta diventa una trappola".

"Io Monica (Montefalcone, ndr) la conoscevo", ha spiegato Pelizzari, "avevamo anche tenuto una conferenza insieme. Era una biologa appassionata, una subacquea molto brava, preparata, che si era già immersa nel Blue Hole a 90 metri. Sono annichilito". "Conosco i luoghi e conosco anche il tour operator, Albatros: dei super professionisti, che si prendono cura di tutto, precisi", ha aggiunto, "ero sulla stessa barca utilizzata dal gruppo di Monica, il Duke of York, sei mesi fa. E anche questa è una circostanza che mi sconcerta".
