Die Fotografin Ulli Weiss war von 1976 bis zu ihrem Tod im Jahr 2014 eine wichtige Wegbegleiterin von Pina Bausch und ihrem Tanztheater Wuppertal. Mit ihren Fotografien hat sie das künstlerische Werk von Pina Bausch visuell dokumentiert und dessen Wahrnehmung wesentlich geprägt. Ulli Weiss hat nicht nur die meisten Aufführungen und viele Proben fotografiert, sondern auch an fast allen Publikationen des Tanztheaters Wuppertal mitgewirkt, wie etwa an Programmheften, Plakaten und Festivalkatalogen. Darüber hinaus hat sie eigene Publikationen veröffentlicht und Fotoausstellungen realisiert. Die Pina Bausch Foundation ist dankbar das umfangreiche Lebenswerk von Ulli Weiss zu bewahren. Ihre Sammlung umfasst rund 150.000 Objekte, darunter Fotoabzüge, Negative und Druckmaterialien zum Tanztheater Wuppertal sowie anderen Projekten.
