The TransSisters issue on Michigan Womyn’s Festival is so interesting to me because I became aware of that controversy much later on, in the early 2000s so I’m gaining a lot of perspective finally reading direct testimony from people who were turned away from the fest in the early 1990s. I remember Camp Trans that formed to protest the festival.

Being in the punk scene, I thought of MichFest as a 2nd wave feminist hippie scene. I never cared about it or went. Some punk bands (maybe Team Dresch or the Butchies) were asked to play in the early 2000s and I believe that’s how it became a heated issue in our scene. Anyone out there remember this stuff? #GenX #Queercore

I attended our local "March4Children", and was upset to see that the news reports seemed accurate: the majority of the anti-LGBT posters were Muslim presenting.

It's devastating to witness them fight for the same side that oppresses and hates them just as much. Just heartbreaking.

It's a dangerous time for all our #2slgbtqai family, friends, co-workers, community members, strangers.

Stick up for them and let them know you're an ally.

We are sticking together.
