US Senator Bill Cassidy lost the Republican primary for the November 2026 election to the US Senate.
Senator Cassidy lost favour in the Republican party after voting to convict Trump in the impeachment trial after the January 6th 2021 insurrection attempt.
He is the first incumbent US Senator to finish third in a primary since 1944.
