so 30 minutes later, I guess we're done here.
this one (2013) was OK. I was also successful with a 2012. I was totally unsuccessful with a 2015, I think they changed the formula for the anti-reflective coating, as no method worked on delaminating those.
also, baby wipes work sometimes when listerine don't. again, ignorant on the details on "how".

apparently listerine was used to clean toilettes once. no idea how someone made the jump from "clean the shitter" to "swish it around your mouth"...
also, women were forced to use this crap on their private parts, presumably for the pleasant odor?

so, we're going with cotton pads and listerine. yeah, the mouthwash. this thing either corrodes the coating or just provides adequate lubrication, I'm ignorant on the details on how. what I do know is that it works.
slow and steady, moderate pressure, there's a LCD panel underneath that don't respond well to pressure.

hey #permacomputing do you need a solid workout for your forearms? do you think your #macbook pro retina should smell like the dentist's office?
then join me in delaminating the screen!

the dude I got it from assured me a Very Serious Place told 'em the display is toast and that's why they're selling it, so didn't bother checking. but now, this warrants another look.
first off, not only is this is a *touch* screen, it's a 400+ nit 8-bit one; was expecting the factory standards which are like 200ish 6-bit. so, looked up where the backlight fuse is and thankfully it's on the exposed side of the motherboard; had the same thing on a T480s, and that one was on the other side of the board.
my latest salvage is a 2013 Macbook Pro 15 Retina in a tricked out configuration - 16 GB RAM, 500 GB SSD. musta cost a pretty penny back then. today, it was had for under $30 as it was "dead".
obv wasn't, Apple's EFI and SMC have a buncha quirks that need to be met in order to wake it successfully. even the battery held, it's at a still usable 77% - after 13 years! the screen's lamination is failing, but still usable in this condition.
wish I still had a job; I'd keep it and install #debian on it, after disabling the troublesome nvidia graphics. after sorting out broadcom wifi drivers, these are awesome #linux machines, especially considering the price nowadays.
as that's not the case, installed Big Sur with OCLP and I'l try to sell it and cover at least part of the rent.
