I am a freelance documentary maker living in Amsterdam and I love to write, run and spend time in nature. Let's connect :)
On March 13-14 a blood moon total lunar eclipse is coming, which reminded me of one of my period postcards!

Everything in nature moves in cycles—seasons change, the moon shifts, and our bodies follow their own rhythms. The menstrual cycle reflects these patterns. Just as winter is a time of rest and renewal, menstruation allows the body to restore itself. Many traditional cultures saw this phase as one of reflection and strength.

Yet, like winter, menstruation is often viewed as inconvenient. In a world focused on constant growth, we make little room for stillness. We ignore natural rhythms—in our bodies, our lifestyles, and our relationship with the earth. But without winter, there is no spring; without rest, no growth. Menstruation is not a disruption but a vital phase of renewal and transformation. More than that, it is a symbol of creation—the power to sustain and bring forth life. What if we no longer see this cycle as a burden, but as an essential and natural rhythm from which we can learn and grow?

On International Women’s I launched Period Postcards, a collection of 12 cards (January-December) to celebrate the beauty of women and our cyclical nature.

Since the beginning of time, men have gazed through telescopes into space or peered through microscopes at the tiniest details, searching for signs of life. Meanwhile, the female body remains largely overlooked—women disproportionately suffer from medical neglect—and is often controlled or hidden by religious and societal norms. Yet it is women who create life itself. Every month, we are reminded of this, visible to the naked eye, in the toilet bowl. Not something impure, but a force. Not a source of shame, but something to be proud of. A sign of our deep connection to nature.

To balance this highly technological and male-dominated era, we need the female perspective and the reminder of our interconnectedness with nature, more than ever.

I sell the postcards on my website ✨
Going to launch something exciting for International Women’s Day!
