Also retro & 8 bit computer enthousiast, see idreamtin8bits.com

Going to move my retro posts and following to @idreamtin8bits

So for my future retro computer posts, please follow me there.

@chriscemper @micheldebree @CommodoreSpence Nice!

Just have set up an account for my IDreamtIn8Bits retro alter ego. Do not feel yet for moving this main account, especially as I also toot regularly in Dutch with that one, which is I see not allowed on c64.chat by lack of moderators for that.

But planned to split my retro Mastodon from my Dutch general interest Mastodon anyway.

Eye of the Beholder for C64/C128 released!

On a C128 it has a very nice bonus feature if you have two screens, a map on the VDC output. See this video capture made from a real iron Commodore 128D.

Damn! I wanted to go to sleep, but then I read that Eye of the Beholder for the #C64 just popped out into the wild. Damn! Look at these beautiful screens! 😍 Guess I will have to test it for a little while now ... Oh by the way, it's free!

@Wintermute_BBS @peter I do have a SD2IEC and Pi1541 as well, but think the drive emulation of the UII+ is by far superior so normally use that.

@Wintermute_BBS @peter Also a solution 😉

The Device Manager ROM can do it by software though from a boot menu, and can both shut the 1571 down or move it to another ID.
https://www.bartsplace.net/content/publications/devicemanager128.shtml

Requires an Ultimate II+ though, or burning it to an U36 EPROM (last one only in alpha)

Have both the plastic D as the metal DCR by the way.

Commodore 128 device manager

@Wintermute_BBS @peter It is still a very enjoyable machine! But really you will need a solution to shut up the internal drive, otherwise using any modern mass storage solution will be a nightmare.

Best solution is the Ultimate II+ cartridge (with the Device Manager ROM), but alas that one is not available till February at least.
