@VileLasagna @b00tl00ps The kind of annoying thing is that of the VPNs I've used, their VPN works way too well. Like, their app interface on Android and Windows has come a long way within the past year. The "secure core" is technically actually a pretty cool thing and works pretty well.
Basically, I wish their products didn't work so well for being a company that I strongly disagree with. Because, like, Google products kind of suck.
@VileLasagna @b00tl00ps I feel like they could have been so good if they would have stayed politically neutral and focused on a very small subset of products.
I think them having a VPN exposes a lot of customer data because it means that you're giving them your real IP address. So that's why I use a VPN that's not connected to anything else or any PII.
@analogfusion @nixCraft If you can, it is so much better to just get away from services that shove AI down your throat.
Gmail shoves AI down my throat, but I only keep a Gmail account for when I need it. But it's not what I primarily use, so I don't have to deal with it that often.
@VileLasagna @b00tl00ps @nixCraft I am so happy to see someone else talk about them peddling far-right ideologies. I started to not like them because I feel like they've become too big for their own good. I also feel like they over represent the value of being based in Switzerland.
But I didn't feel that bad jumping ship on Proton when I found out that their CEO supports Trump. If I'm already going to go out of my way to use services like Proton, I'm not going to put up with them being evil.
