Esperanto and laser enthusiast. Aka @edheil . Set up this vanity instance and have been using it for a few weeks; may just stay here.
@spacewizard @edheil er, "vanity instance" not "vanity account"

MASTOFRIENDS I am trying to move off this vanity account, to @spacewizard . I am following the instructions and it's saying I'm not. Anybody know how to fix?

It says I can't do the move cause I didn't set up the alias, but I totally did. I even set up an alias to my older account I moved from, @edheil , just in case that mattered.

How about some #RPGTheory?

Game design, at its essence, is about asking people to do things that they may not be able to do easily or well.

Something made me remember the creepy and disturbing video for "Alice" by Moby (2008). Went back to watch it to see if it's as creepy and disturbing as I remember. Yes, definitely. (Includes brief shots of something that's real-world shocking/awful, is the worst bit.)
@renatoram Maybe everything shouldn't always have to be virtualized. Maybe sometimes we should author web pages, rather than virtual textual entities which could theoretically become web pages after they pass through one pipeline or another.
@renatoram partly because typical modern HTML/CSS has become so complicated and abstruse that this supposed "markup language" is something nobody ever wants to touch directly. Even hackers don't want to touch it directly, they want to write in Markdown.

@renatoram why do web sites have to have "source code" (whether that's in a database or flat files) that has to be "compiled" (whether that's by Wordpress at page load time or Hugo at deployment time)?

Why can't we directly author the web site (whether by hand by hacking the html directly or with the help of some wysiwyg tool)?

Well, obviously we *can*. Why don't we do it more?

Hugo-style static blog generators vs wordpress style blogging software is an unimportant implementation detail.

Emacs and files vs text boxes and relational database; in either case you're editing abstract "content" which is turned into HTML by an opaque and possibly Byzantine process which is difficult for most users to understand and control.
