#introduction We are association for the development of locally built small wind turbines for sustainable rural electrification. The association was founded in 2011 at the World Social Forum in Dakar, Senegal by 18 founding members. Today WE consists of more than 50 member organisations – cooperatives, collectives, enterprises, non-governmental organisations, research groups and institutions, training centres, as well as hundreds of individual practitioners around the world.
