Someday I'll put something useful in this space. So far it just starts turning into a manuscript.

I'm happily retired now, enjoying beachfront life in rural South Carolina.

@junkhed You hit the nail squarely on the head, Junkhed!
@carla Happy to oblige!
@novarac23 I feel your pain, Nik

Here's more #advice on rebuilding at #Mastodon that you did not ask for. ^_^

Start with finding and following people you'd be happy to talk to over coffee. Then...talk to them.

It's good practice for real-worlding one day in the future. And it has the benefit of ensuring you and they see each other as real people.

@gwensnyder Thanks for the reminder. I gotta listen to his Seeger Sessions in full tonight.

A front page article on the Washington Post telling people how to get started with Mastodon?

That’s a big deal.

A guide to getting started with Twitter alternative Mastodon

How to get started on social-media site Mastodon, whether you're leaving Twitter or just looking for people who have.

The Washington Post

@georgetakei Today TCM featured the early Batman series from early 1940s. I was shocked at a reference to "Japan Town" being vacated because of "wise government." I mean, I wasn't really shocked, just supremely disappointed. It was sad.

(Sorry if this wasn't posted correctly. I'm still learning Mastodon.)

There is a "crisis" right now at our southern border. Why does the media refer to the people as "migrants?"

Based on my knowledge of central and south America, shouldn't these people be called "Refugees?"

@gwfoto I get these... "people"... confused sometimes. There's been so many of them lately.
@invalidname I have completely weaned myself from gasoline outdoor lawn and garden equipment. The lawnmower and leaf blowers are probably the biggest deals to me. Both totally eclipse older, "first generation" electric products of the past and perform with the power comparable to their premium gas-powered counterparts. Biggest plus for me: no worries about carburetors gumming up between uses.
