FINALLY finished Farewell to Arms. Very not my jam. I -wanted- to like it, and I'm sure it was revolutionary in its time, but it's been nearly a century since it was written and I can't say it holds up. The sidekick characters in the beginning have more depth than the love interest the entire book is about, and maybe it's Seinfeldification, but the turn at the end is entirely predictable and comes without any emotional weight. There are definitely sections that I enjoyed, but they're all when the protagonist is away from the love interest, and ultimately not what the book is about. Unless maybe the moral is man is better alone?
(Take this all with a grain of salt; I'm terrible at seeing themes in books).
