If nothing else, Mastodon seems to be pretty convincing evidence that an edit button can work. I'm not seeing many cases of it being abused the way many worried it would be.
Bad actors are the problem, not the tools. Get rid of the bad faith people, and we can have nice things.
This is an outstanding reply to, and analysis of that Pamela Paul column in the New York Times that began this way:
"A paper that says science should be impartial was rejected by major journals. You can’t make this up."
Dave Karpf, an academic, takes it apart. He also testifies as a particiant in the peer review system. Worth your time.

One frustrating thing on Mastodon is getting a follow recommendation and you look at the account and they haven't posted for weeks or months. Dr. Jorge Caballero @DataDrivenMD to the rescue!
Check out this "simple website that lists 5-8 *active* Mastodon accounts for each of the following categories: Columnists, Journalism, Tech, Media, Politics, Authors, Social Justice, Advocacy, Law/Legal, SciComm."

Thanks Dr. Caballero!
