@robbienorlyn It depends how it's built.
If an app allows on-device data storage, it's likely safer. It could also be more secure (in another sense) to the user, because you could choose whether or not to download an update.
(Not all "updates" are "upgrades"... web apps/platforms are what make enshittification possible.)

Great little thread about #systemsthinking that clearly demonstrates the difference between variant types of “decentralization”: individualization is too much atomization (and IMO contributes to the rise of fascism, the yearning for a centralized power) whereas pluralization utilizes methods of diversification and redundancy that ultimately leads to more resilient systems.
