@MattMerk the only way to truly seperate the art from the artist is mechanically
…so this bit of the closing ceremonies is 2112. Neat.
@virtualbri as long as there’s fairly unified output containers, we can handle it. we had a show recently that wanted everything done and returned at camera res, with multiple cameras. that was a lot. we can generally work with whatever comes in if we've got a clear reformat path to DI container
@virtualbri when it becomes obvious that they're offloading stuff to the vendor so they can hire one less editor or coord? not a fan.
@virtualbri oh, boy howdy do I have some opinions about v000’s and… I don't want to be disrespectful to you because I know you're good people and I'd make them happily for y'all. but boy do some places abuse that good will. :D
@virtualbri they never wanted to hear it, because they were ultimately being tasked with attempting to *replacing me*, but 15 or 20 minutes of providing specific examples would usually make them retreat back to their desk. Anyway, it's ironic because I currently have the ingestion system I've always wanted *and* we're simultaneously responsible for making deliverables to slot into someone else's automation flawlessly. :P
@virtualbri every single time someone from the software department at two of the three houses I've worked at was sent to pick my brain about automating file ingestion, the first thing I'd say is “I need a place in here to manually adjust naming" and they'd look at me funny and I'd have to explain, again, that anything coming from outside the building and beyond our control was inevitably going to be a chaos you won't be able to cover in a universal expression or regex.
@MattMerk @CStamp @virtualbri on several occasions while I was running for the physical fx crew doing model shoots in Van Nuys for Dante’s I would run into my equivalent from the Volcano crew, picking up the same shit.
@MattMerk @CStamp @virtualbri Red Planet and Mission to Mars. Truman Show and EdTV. and of all of these examples, the only pair I didn't work on one of them are the bug movies :D
