Talking to a friend who is visiting Ukrainian wounded in the Netherlands, because he's able bodied he never realised that many, so called, accommodations that are made for people who need to use a wheelchair are more performative than useful

With one of the people he was taking to an event— former soldier, strong upper body, in a wheelchair because he has no legs anymore—the wheelchair ramps they encountered at the event were difficult to navigate. Some of them were difficult to get up, even with two people pushing the wheelchair

Dropped curbs that have subsided and are difficult to navigate, and the eternal issue of cars or bikes parked in such a way as to make passing inaccessible

Sometimes one needs to see the issues through the eyes of another, to see the issues
