Dutch is so weird. We add ‘je’ to a word as a diminutive, to make a concept smaller. ‘Stuk’ is piece, ‘stukje’ is small piece. So far so good.
But see the picture. It’s a peanut butter label that says that the jar contains ‘grote stukjes’, so: large small pieces.
Must be close to impossible to learn as a second language.
