New #blog post alert!

I muse about research some of my grad students and I did around independently evaluating some #OpenBSD anti-ROP mitigations, and I bid farewell to being an OpenBSD developer.

Semi-retirement, or, really, changing my relationship with the BSDs - Dr. Brian Robert Callahan

@justine MangoWC is something I wanted to take a look at over the easter weekend, if the weather is bad ;-)

@justine We'll need to add a port of SceneFX first, which seems doable but not something I'd want to propose for 7.9 (but that's only me)

Look what's landed in the #OpenBSD #Wayland #Ports - @[email protected] #Fuzzel .

@hi Could you retest trackpad and trackpoint with today's snapshot packages (libinput-openbsd 1.30.2)? That might improve things, feedback appreciated.
@hi @radhitya it's fbtab, not fstab ;-)
@hi Stands to reason, Firefox is running via XWayland.

@hi check /etc/fbtab - does it contain /dev/dri/card0 and /dev/dri/renderD128 if not, it should (https://cvsweb.openbsd.org/checkout/src/etc/etc.amd64/fbtab,v?rev=1.9) ... and you need login from ttyC0.

Firefox scrolling will probably be fixed with a pkg update the next few days. For now, try disabling soft scrolling.

@hi @haddock

doas pkg_add sway foot
then execute startsway.sh

or

doas pkg_add labwc foot
then execute labwc (I guess, never tried that)

or

doas pkg_add niri foot
then execute startniri.sh

or

doas pkg_add wayfire foot
then execute startwayfire.sh

I recommend installing foot as a wayland-native terminal emulator, in case you couldn't tell. There's more wayland stuff (https://openports.pl/cat/wayland) but that'll get you started. Just remember to turn off xenodm.
