Hack textile & other craft experiments
I've been dreaming about making rugs for a while already and did not know tufting was possible without an industrial machine!

First try out at tuft gun. So exciting, combining fiber art and big guns! I'm not so happy with the outcome (totally improvised, next time I'll make plan). I like the back better...

Hope to make another try soon with our new gun at @Green_fabric_bxl.

Haven't posted in a while.
International women's day is a good opportunity to come back to it.

Machine knitted this top today for this 8th of March.

New toy at #green_fabric_bxl, an electronic embroidery machine!
Using inkstitch, inkscape extension.

Pic 1: a sol lewitt remade in LOGO programming language by @yarela
Pic 2: test phase
Pic 3: a painting from my colleague's cousin. Love how the filled areas are treated by the machine!
Pic 4: wrong side of pic 3, we were out of white for the bottom thread and replaced it with blue. Makes an interesting back side!

Next step will be to plug the machine directly to the computer to see how we can embroider directly from it. Oh, and test Turtle Stitch! LOGO for embroidery!

Natural dyeing with red cubbage. No mordant was used, therefore it seems the colors are fading out with time.
But great experiment to do with kids to change the pH of the color by adding citric acid (turns pink/red) or baking soda (turns blue/green, even yellow).
Portraits of Ada Lovelace and Grace Hopper, two pioneers in the history of computing.

Machine knitted with a hacked Brother kh940 at Green Fabric, Brussels.
Loop back from computing to textile (whose jacquard looms were computer's ancestors)
