@mitchellh curious to know how you stayed a 10x Dev so well. πŸ₯‡

What would your weekly cal look like in leadership mode i.e.: how much of it was allocated to management meetings, stand-ups with teams, people management meetings/check-ins, strategy scheming and documenting, code reviewing, architecting, programming and misc? What did your cal look like when you coded least in your career, how long would such bouts last and how did you maintain your programmer's muscle memory during those times?

πŸ‹οΈ ARC Challenge by Chollet (2019) is hot atm.

It defines tasks one needs to solve given just a few examples instead of many similar to how humans learn a task.

Objective: have AI systems learn to reason as opposed to just remember or "stupidly regurgitate" patterns from example-heavy datasets. πŸ’

πŸ’° The challenge recently got revived thanks to the 1M USD ARC Prize.

Are you team:
πŸ”΄ LLMs FTW or
πŸ”΅ symbolic AI + other methods or a composition FTW

Main #NixOS mech died after a #coffee spill. Now trying to get back on track on a #MacBook.

Always carried my secrets on multiple drives but learned:

- xs-ing ext4 partitions on anything non #Linux is hard
- xs-ing them from #LUKS vaults is even harder
- booting into #Ubuntu from a pendrive on a MacBook may require an external mouse & keyboard as the built-ins may not work πŸ€·πŸΏβ€β™‚οΈ

I'll have to keep #backups across multiple fs types to widen platforms of access going fwd.

Alcohol free white beer🍺, crisps, the missus with ginger ale and a fun book about stats.

Things to do to relax. Work and life at Balance.

Fun fact: Current chapter is about mutual exclusivity. Who says work and life have to be mutually exclusive? πŸ˜…

Playing Get down Saturday night. πŸͺ© It's gonna be alright, fam. ✌🏿

Bricked my laptop on Thu night (big upgrade), was a big zero on Friday (no mech, only trouble), had a fuck it moment in the eve and just decided to let go and do social catch-ups. Tamed the dragon today, we're back! πŸ’ƒπŸΏπŸ‰

AMA about GRUB2 going fwd. πŸ˜…

After watering πŸ‘¨πŸΏβ€πŸŒΎ the neighborhood garden πŸ’πŸŒΊπŸŒ»πŸ’, the missus and I have spent some good time reading in the sun. 🌞

Covered a good amount of product work this way. Scribbling mockups, shuffling around onboarding flow ideas and more of that jazz.

Productive and wholesome sunday, I'd say.

KΓΆrnerpark πŸžοΈβ›² in NeukΓΆlln is something else. 😻

What have y'all been up to? πŸ‘‹πŸΏ

Had a wholesome start to the week this morning. Enjoyed the heck out of what may be the calmest moment of the week. πŸ˜…

Happy Monday y'all.

Also: La Maison β˜•πŸ₯ is open on Sundays now. πŸ₯³

A little self-promotion here. If you like Wordle and have Emacs, you might check out this simple program to help you solve it...I have another one that's been in the nascent phase for Nerdle as well, but have not quite finished it.

Thinking about migrating The Polyglot Developer from Hugo to Eleventy before the year is over.

https://www.thepolyglotdeveloper.com

Nothing against Hugo as it has treated me well the past few years, but Eleventy has been easier for post-build performance and SEO.

Anyone I know done such a migration? Was it a big task?

If you think it’s trouble for Twitter to be hostage to the whims of Elon Musk, I encourage you to apply that thinking to Starlink.

Broadband, but rather than fiber in the ground that can be seized or resold or rerouted or regulated, instead thousands of satellites that are controlled only by Musk! To Musk this is a huge positive, but to the other 8 billion of us, it’s a huge negative.

We must not let broadband be Musked.
