@Migueldeicaza How does it feel to get back to coding with good old C++? 😄
What I particularly like about JetBrains IDEs is the ability to specify different colors for class instance fields, function parameters and local variables. Looks like it's not popular as default themes don't have such distinction, but once you're get used to it, there is no going back.
@aras awesome, thank you!
@aras text looks quite nice! Do you use fractional scaling on the KDE? I've checked it a year or so ago and text was blurry. Also, could you please post a more complete screenshot of CLion IDE running under KDE? 😊
@floooh right, I've checked the latest stable version with my simple 2d batching test project and it indeed renders 10k sprites in a single draw call. With custom color per sprite supported and not breaking the batch. I guess the last piece of puzzle is in-editor automatic sprite atlas generation, to reach parity with Unity.
@floooh and yet Godot doesn't do any sprite batching at all (except for maybe particles). I once asked the main maintainer of that and he pointed to the lack of draw call overhead as the reason they don't optimize sprites rendering

Happy to share something I've been working on for a while - COMBOTRONICA!

@noio that's brilliant!
@konjak top-notch! 🔥
@aras very interesting, thank you! Please consider sharing your thoughts on Godot! There are multiple things that Godot does really well, but there are some painful shortcomings like complete lack of sprite atlases (and sprite batching) support.
