The extent to which core linux projects are laying the groundwork for age verification is very concerning.
I understand why some believe they are compelled to do so, and why others feel that it may be better to implement the most minimal conforming implementation in the hopes of fending off something worse.
But the line must be drawn such that no threat can obligate an OS to collect/store personal information - without that freedom, we face an uphill fight to protect general purpose computing.

Unter dem Vorwand des Jugendschutzes folgt im weltweiten Gleichschritt die EinfĂŒhrung von Alters- und IdentitĂ€tskontrollzwĂ€ngen fĂŒr den Zugang zum Internet, was alle Nutzenden betreffen wĂŒrde und alle ausschlieĂt, die ĂŒber entsprechende Nachweise nicht verfĂŒgen können oder wollen.
Als Ideallösung werden dafĂŒr von der herrschenden Politik vor allem "digitale IdentitĂ€ten" propagiert, die, wie im Falle der #EUDI sich aber auch als ĂŒberwachungskapitalistische Instrumente mit ausweitbaren Zwecken erweisen, wie unter anderem epicenter.works anhand vieler Belege aufzeigen.
Die #Alterskontrollen stellen zudem ein frĂŒhes Beispiel der Hauptzwecke von "digitalen IdentitĂ€ten" dar: Die digitale Kontrolle von ZugĂ€ngen, Verhalten und Wissens- und Informationsinfrastrukturen fĂŒr die weite Bevölkerung durch die Herrschenden.

Then corporations arrived with money and lock-in, turning the internet into centralized ad farms (Meta, X, TikTok). Users became consumers, trapped in algorithms, tracking, and enshittification. Revenue more important than people.
