Does anyone remember the Natural Selection HL1 mod? Or the standalone NS2 game (I have it but never really got into it, I’m not sure why). It was pretty unique for the time, using the HL engine to create more or less a RTS game with player controlled units. Humans had one player become a commander who looked at the world from above and placed buildings, aliens didn’t (in the original game but did in NS2). There were also other insteresting gimmicks, like the basic alien could walk on walls, there were flying units, etc.
I'm close to getting an "off-line" reaction page in bloat, I'm still not sure how to go from remote emoji name to the image.

Next step would be an inline counter in the status itself, and a form to react to a status.
I knew I had this saved somewhere.

CW: injection, likely hard drugs.

@Ukko I didn’t search long but this books seems okay, it was written for murricans but should do.

TBH for me the biggest pain is learning Cyrillic, other than that I can understand a lot of words already, it’s easier than I thought. I’d probably make an ass of myself if I tried to speak, though

I wonder what goes through the mind of a person who designs things like this and wants to put them into production.
pretty specific instructions

Bloat frontend is actually kind of neat.
I’ve managed to add support for Akkoma’s bubble timeline here: https://forge.insufferable.tools/subtype/bloat/src/branch/bloat_akko

Remaining:

  • Alt text for images (I think there isn’t an option for that?)
  • Emoji reactions
  • Language picker (I’d rather keep my polishposting properly labeled)
  • DeepL translations?
  • Other pleroma/akkoma APIs.
