German court rules Meta tracking technology violates European privacy laws

The court in Leipzig ruled that Meta must pay €5,000 ($5,900) to a German Facebook user who sued the platform for embedding tracking technology in third-party websites — a ruling that could open the door to other lawsuits.

Been thinking about how to implement try/catch in my VM only to realize it's literally just spicy on error goto, like, remember that one from qbasic?

It's just a label to jump to whenever an error is detected, which is just the catch block. So all I gotta do is check for an error after operations that can cause an error and then jump to the handler address if one is set, otherwise unwind the call stack and try again

I just rode the bus two hours to Beverly hills to get this front bike basket for my e-bike. Why? Because i got it for $15 and these are like $50 new

“Clueless people”, she was saying, “end up in charge because they aren’t hampered by having to spend time acquiring expertise. They can devote a hundred percent of their energy to climbing the greasy pole. Being smeared in grease doesn’t affect your effectiveness if it was zero to start with.”

“Ew, that”, I put down my coffee, “is an icky metaphor. Business culture is disgusting.”

“Oh, darling”, she offered me the last croissant before taking a bite and talking through the mouthful, “I’m talking about cosmology.”

“What?”. I felt I was losing my grip on the reins of this wildly bucking conversation.

“The standard model of particle physics,” she washed away the croissant crumbs with a gulp of tea, “is clearly a rush job. There is strong evidence that the cosmos is configured to generate new particles and interactions on demand when a measurement is made that requires them. This universe is literally making itself up as it goes along.”

“That makes no sense.” My coffee was now cool enough for a big slurp.

“It makes perfect game theoretic sense. By skipping the design phase, this continuum generated sentience far ahead of any of the alternatives who wasted time on completeness. That’s why my hostile takeover of Physics is going to work”

I managed to spray the coffee in a harmless direction, just.

OF COURSE climate change deniers would rather pretend nefarious human agency like a "weather control machine" is responsible for specific natural disasters affecting people they care about because otherwise it would be their own fucking fault for being climate change deniers.
