#leaked or #anonymized datasets can hold a #privacy risk with very little information.

Email and IRC are probably the best examples of federated systems working, and Email is the only one that really took hold of the average person. Signing up for Gmail and signing up for a #mastodon account are just about the same in terms of how hard they are.
