Something that really excites me is that as I find more black professionals... They been here.

We need to stop assuming all the Black folks in tech are just getting started.

I think this is a symptom of people not being put out in the spotlight. My theory is that we tend to be a little more cautious in fear that we’ll be called out if we don't know things.

I hope we can create environments that are a great space for Black devs of all skill levels (also Black Python Devs is trying to do that)

Okay trying something!

NERDY TECH BLACK PEOPLE SAY HI SO I CAN FOLLOW YOU!

Maybe it's that easy (or maybe I followed them all and this thing just doesn't feel like home for folks like me) 🥺

New project: diffoci (diff for Docker/OCI images)
https://github.com/reproducible-containers/diffoci

The purpose is to help @reproducible_builds for supplychain security.
The attached screenshot compares the official `golang:1.21-alpine3.18` image with a local image built from its public source. [1/4]

I keep thinking about what we get backwards. Measuring learning loss instead of loss of learning access and loss of learning resources. Fascinated by whether LLMs understand why some answers are wrong and not with whether our tests are designing unclear overlapping categories of answers that confuse test takers. Deciding kids are "addicted" to screens when we reduce the world to roads and kill our trees and parks.

NVIDIA licensing for their research projects got a shiny new restriction. 🙃

Non-commercially wasn't enough of a restriction..

<although in retrospect, I read this as "security applied to containers" and whereas the track was more "we're going to talk about containers, _and_ we're going to talk about security" >

All good, and all excellent all the same...

The hybrid approach (having MPI in the container work with the OS) is a neat technique for isolating the application container from the os.

ABI compatibility is required, but it does allow more flexibility for the OS to update without breaking containers

Containers and security at #Pearc23 today.

Yes, please! Containers are fantastic for so many aspects of research computing, addressing the security aspects unique to this use will be incredibly helpful for adoption into our work
