We’re getting lots of things ready for TypeCon2025! Tickets are on sale and if you buy one full price ticket, you can bring a friend for $25.

Also, a very big shout out to the talented James Plattner for this year’s identity.

I did not know that @typedrawers was a thing.

Using six letters, choose four consonants and two vowels. Form a new pharmaceutical name.

Responsive design turns fifteen today! WHAT IS TIME https://ethanmarcotte.com/wrote/responsive-design-at-15/

Responsive web design turns fifteen. — ethanmarcotte.com

The original “Responsive Web Design” article was published fifteen years ago. Time’s weird, man.

Today, I’m officially launching TypeQuote, a site that presents one curated and highly opinionated quote every day: for designers, artists, technologists, writers — and Mastodon types.

we're not sure anyone ever actually noticed…

the prompt 3 marketing copy — at https://panic.com/prompt/ — was all written specifically to be fully-justified paragraphs of fixed-width monospaced characters.

no cheating. no double spaces. but why did we do this

Prompt 3

The best SSH app for iOS and macOS.

Went to preorder the upcoming @ohno book from Bookshop.org, but apparently they don’t ship to Canada. Harrumph.

Antique Olive is still not a nice font.

I just released my new font Soft Text on FutureFonts. If you've taken a workshop with me over the last handful of years, this is what the materials were set in—a gentle, easy to read, gently-contrasted sans. https://www.future-fonts.com/soft-type/soft-text?v=0.1

Kelli Anderson made an activation video (to tease bookstores) of her upcoming pop-up book on how letters got their shapes... and it looks bananas: https://vimeo.com/1082361049/54eb30d072 😍

(Unsurprising if you know Kelli’s work and the amount of artistry she brings to everything)

@panic However much work it was to get the copy to line up like that, I’m sure it was…

😎

…justified.

@Fleedar @panic This was my thought: Did the Super Metroid writer get hired here?
@panic I do this sort of thing with code comments sometimes but... I think I spy a *little* cheating here - there's missing punctuation when it's convenient! 😛
@bigzaphod @panic I was literally about to make the same observation.
@panic This is the kind of crap I pull. Nice.
@panic Still not spending $100 on an ssh app though
@zip @panic Congratulations, you don't have to!
@panic I remember doing this on Usenet back in the day.

@panic Having just learned about Prompt, is there a way to get a version that supports iOS 12? I'd love to try it out, but that's the newest iOS/iPadOS version that I have available!

Edit: To clarify, I'm just wanting a way to officially install an older version of the app that supports iOS/iPadOS 12, and not trying to ask "Please give me the latest version of the app on this old OS version!"

@panic There was a wager involved and possibly alcohol
@panic because you’re absolute madlads 🤪
@panic no periods at the end of the last sentences though? 😉

@panic @rileytestut So it looks correct in mobile browsers when the content is reflowed?
